【摘要】:Turbidityisundesirableindrinkingwater,planteffluentwaters,waterforfoodandbeverageprocessing,andforalargenumberofotherwater-dependentmanufacturingprocesses.Removalisoftenaccomplishedbycoagulation,settling,andfiltration.Measurementofturbidityprovidesarapidmeansofprocesscontrolforwhen,how,andtowhatextentthewatermustbetreatedtomeetspecifications.Thistestmethodissuitabletoturbiditysuchasthatfoundindrinkingwater,processwater,andhighpurityindustrialwater.Whenreportingthemeasuredresult,appropriateunitsshouldalsobereported.Theunitsarereflectiveofthetechnologyusedtogeneratetheresult,andifnecessary,providemoreadequatecomparisontohistoricaldatasets.Table1describestechnologiesandreportingresults(seealsoRefs(1),(2),(3)).Thosetechnologieslistedareappropriatefortherangeofmeasurementprescribedinthismethod.Othersmaycomeavailableinthefuture.Fig.X5.1providesaflowcharttoaidinselectionoftheappropriatetechnologyforlow-levelstaticturbidityapplications.IfadesignthatfallsoutsideofthecriterialistedinTable1isused,theturbidityshouldbereportedinturbidityunits(TU)withasubscriptedwavelengthvaluetocharacterizethelightsourcethatwasused.TABLE1ApplicableTechnologiesAvailableforPerformingStaticTurbidityMeasurementsBelow5NTU1.1Thistestmethodcoversthestaticdeterminationofturbidityinwater(see4.1).1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletothemeasurementofturbiditiesunder5.0nephelometricturbidityunits(NTU).1.3Thistestmethodwastestedonmunicipaldrinkingwater,ultra-purewaterandlowturbiditysamples.Itistheuser''sresponsibilitytoensurethevalidityofthistestmethodforwatersofuntestedmatrices.1.4ThistestmethodusescalibrationstandardsaredefinedinNTUvalues,butotherassignedturbidityunitsareassumedtobeequivalent.1.5Thistestmethodassignstraceablereportingunitstothetypeofrespectivetechnologythatwasusedtoperformthemeasurement.Unitsarenumericallyequivalentwithrespecttothecalibrationstandard.Forexample,a1.0NTUformazinstandardisalsoequaltoa1.0FNUstandard,a1.0FNRUstandardandsoforth.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.RefertotheMSDSsforallchemicalsusedinthisprocedure.
